"This service is a lifesaver, Thank you."

About: CGL Birmingham / East Hub

(as a service user),

After drinking too much Alcohol, which is not at all good, as I am a carer for my disabled daughter, I went to the East hub in Birmingham (Lonsdale House - detox). The staff there were very understanding as they have been though similar stories to the group of 9 who attended.

We all joined in the discussions about our addictions which was extremely helpful to us all. without CGL I don't think I would be in this better frame of mind having now stopped drinking alcohol. The staff were fantastic and I am so pleased I decided to use this service. This service is a lifesaver! Thank you!

Dear taurusjx34

Thank you so much for reaching out to us.

My name is Lydia and I am responsible for listening and responding to feedback about our support.

I was sorry to hear about how your alcohol use had escalated which I am all too aware can happen to anybody - as addiction does not discriminate.

I'm so glad that you had such a positive experience through our East Hub support, and then our Community Detox. Having the opportunity to address your drinking alongside other people who are in similar positions, provides vital opportunities for peer to peer learning in an environment where everyone understands and appreciates how challenging leaving an addiction behind can be. I hope you made some really positive connections with the other people you completed your detox with, and that as time goes by you will stay in touch and continue to support each other.

It was great to read that you found our staff to be so understanding, and that the discussions that you had helped you in combating your alcohol use. Your kind feedback about the support you received has been shared with the East Hub Team and the Community Detox Team, which was greatly appreciated.

I hope you feel incredibly proud of your achievements, and that the better frame of mind you are now in helps you to move through life showing the same levels of determination and belief you have shown already, through successfully completing your detox and changing your life for the better.

Thank you once again for letting us know about how you experienced our support, and I wish you and your daughter all the very best for the future.

Take care of yourself,

Lydia
