I finished a nightshift (in A&E) as a nurse I understand the pressures are high especially when short staffed however the rude attitude from the receptionist Friday 9th May 8am was shocking. A poor gentleman infront of me didn’t know how to use the self check in and she had stated he would wait a long time and needs to do it himself therefore I helped him he was very thankful.
I came to book an appointment for ongoing palpitations, being tachycardic and generally unwell and wanting advice from my GP I didn’t even get questioned as to why I was there it was simply, “do a triage online” the gentleman who she booked in had an appointment for the same day when it came to me there were no appointments left for the day? At 08:10am after waiting almost 40 minutes ?
Her attitude, bluntness and unhelpful manner is one of the reasons I’m leaving this GP it’s not very often I even book an appointment but it’s awful to see not just for myself but for anyone else like the poor gentleman infront who was unable to book himself in.
Everyone goes through their own thing, and based off what I see in A&E it could be that 1 appointment that saves someone or that 1 person that can ruin someone’s whole day. Kindness and a smile costs absolutely nothing at all.
