"I felt very supported and looked after"

My experience with WestMARC has been brilliant. The referral process was a bit tricky as there was miscommunication between the Occupational Therapy service (Lanarkshire) and WestMARC. Once the correct details had been confirmed, it was about three months wait until I had a phone call saying they had a cancellation and would I like the appointment.

The initial appointment with Fiona at the Motherwell Hub was really good. You can immediately tell she loves her work and is very knowledgeable on wheelchairs and wheelchair life. She took many measurements, asked about my current chair, what I do/don’t like, etc. She listened to my view as well as suggesting things to consider from her vast experience/knowledge. She gave me the rough timeline for when the chair would be ready to try out and I went home happy and satisfied.

A couple months later, I received my letter for my fitting appointment. Once again, Fiona was lovely and allowed me to take as much time as I needed trying different adjustments and positions with the wheelchair. She gave me all the important information and paper copies for my reading/records. I felt very supported and looked after by Fiona throughout every step of the process and will be happy to go back if I require any help. I cannot recommend this service enough for anyone needing support with a new wheelchair, first time or fifth time.
