"Very hot room"

About: Victoria Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

I accompanied my daughter 2 Maternity Daycare recently, although Midwife was lovely and very caring the heat in the room was unbearable.

The temperature in the room had reached over 30 degrees.

No air within the room it felt like being in a greenhouse.

My daughter felt faint, sick and felt she could not get a breath, was unwell the rest of the day.

I know hospital's have to be warm but that room was unbearable despite a fan being on.

I feel that it was unacceptable to ask a pregnant women or anyone to sit in that room for any length of time.

The room was way too hot in the morning, so God knows what temperature it would be in the afternoon. I feel this has to be rectified asap.

Dear charlieje46,

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback, I am pleased to hear you and your daughter felt well looked after by the midwife who cared for you. I appreciate you highlighting your concerns around the room temperature and would value exploring this issue with you further. Ensuring people are comfortable when attending for maternity care is important and I am sorry this has not been your experience.

I can be contacted on 01592 643355 ext 29997 if you like to speak further,

Many thanks again,

Roisin Gormley

Outpatient and community Clinical Midwifery Manager
