I was asked my wife to have a p.s.a. test when I was having my yearly check up. I had no symptoms. After the test I was called in and from that point All my treatment was excellent.
Initial stages was all about scans these were conducted between Aberdeen and Elgin. All went well and again all staff were very considerate and helpful
My treatment started immediately tablets to start with then on to Radio therapy This came as quite a shock as I thought it was just going to be tablets then all would be fine to find out when I was told about the radio therapy it brought home to me I have cancer.
I live up in a small village in the north, this is a round Journey of 120miles for twenty days, 2400miles, I can not thank Buckie cancer group and Clan for all their help they arranged drivers to pick me up and take me there and back all volunteers and all helped to make this treatment possible and all with a sense of humour thank you all of you.
Aberdeen treatment for me the worst part was the long walk along the corridor I am reasonably fit but for a lot of people it was wheel chairs or a very slow walk I know this will change when the new centre opens
My treatment experience was excellent. at times due to the number of people and there degree of illness we ran a bit late but in all my time the latest I was taken was twenty minutes thank you everyone all of you were excellent so helpful and a sense of humour certainly helped.
I now have follow up treatment tablets and blood test all local so easy to manage.
I can not thank the NHS enough we in Scotland have to make sure this will always be available for the people
"I was diagnosed with prostrate cancer"
