"Less than helpful"

About: Victoria Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as a service user),

I phoned for an update on an issue I hadn’t heard back from in 2 days. The person I spoke to was less than helpful, didn’t even take my name or date of birth before telling me they couldn’t help me. Implied it was my fault because I did not know the name of the nurse I had spoken to on the phone 2 days prior as to why they couldn’t help me.

When I asked them to check the system with my name and date of birth, lo and behold, the information I had been looking for was found. But they then refused to give me the name of the nurse I needed to talk to about an update.

I managed to talk to another staff member who was very helpful, and gave me the information I needed, despite audibly laughing at me with who I can only assume was the first staff member, when they thought they had hung up the phone at the end of the call.

As someone who works in healthcare, this is very poor and leaves patients feeling uncomfortable and nervous regarding their care.
