"My short stay in hospital"

About: Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency Victoria Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

Called NHS24 with chest pains and pounding irregular heartbeat. Referral to A&E at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. Seen by a nurse and a Dr within 1hr of arrival and put on a drip to reduce my heart rate. Admitted to hospital, had numerous ECGs, a chest x-ray and echocardiogram. Given a beta blocker in addition to the bp tablets and blood thinners I’d only recently been prescribed.

The staff got my bp and heart rate under control and saw Consultant the following morning who was happy to sign off my discharge with some follow up procedures.

Have only good things to say about the staff I interacted with. All friendly, courteous and professional. Special thanks to Una, ANP Cardiology, for taking the time to fully explain follow up procedures and likely plan going forward. That was very reassuring for my wife and I.
