I have Lynch Syndrome and as such I have had a number of colonoscopies since my Lynch Diagnosis in 2013.
In the recent past all Lynchies have been added to the National Bowel Screening Programme. We are now screened every two years by a consultant level Doctor as we are a group with a Higher Risk of Bowel Cancer than none Lynch patients.
My recent screening was conducted in the most professional manner possible. I was seen in Outpatients by one of the Bowel Cancer Nurse Specialists pre procedure, and informed exactly what would happen. There I was given my prep (the wonderful Movi Prep) and my date and time of procedure. I was fully in the loop throughout.
My scoping was conducted by Mr Cochrane by who chatted with me explaining exactly what he was doing, where the camera was in my colon, showing where my resection was and various tattoos were of previous polyps. All in all Mr Cochrane and his team who I sadly don’t know their names made the whole procedure from start to finish a breeze.
A special thanks to the Colorectal Nurse specialists who briefed and de-briefed me and kept me fully informed.
Well done Mr Fung and all your team for making this a pleasant (if that’s the correct word) event.
