"Gynae referral marked urgent - a year later nothing"

About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Gynaecology FAU (Ward 43)

(as the patient),

Last June i was admitted to the hosp with kidney issues. The staff were unreal, amazing. However they ended up finding large cysts on my ovaries and referred urgently. Since then ive had numerous kidney issues likely caused by the cysts. I got the urgent referral in June 24, its now May 25.

Ive gone to 2 private apps to check on the cyst whilst waiting. It has grown significantly, still having kidney issues, pain, constantly on antibiotics. Im at risk of torsion.

The gynae list is ridiculous and im aware others are waiting years, but what will it take? £10,000 surgery or a being blue lighted when my ovary twists or cysts burst?

Not only this, my care app has none of this information, its literally blank. What is going on with our health care system?

Why specifically are females suffering with these waiting times?

I understand staffing issues, our government need to pull their head out of their purses and pay our health care workers the right money and treat them with respect so they actually want to work for the NHS.

Its a disgrace that we all have to wait and watch our health deteriorate!!!!!

Hi Falconkf69

Thank you for reaching out and highlighting your concerns regarding your frustrations about waiting times for an appointment to be seen within gynaecology services and bringing the needs of Woman Health to the forefront.

I apologise to you for the delay in being seen.

Unfortunately when seen within the private sector information is not integrated automatically to the NHS My App unless the clinician you were seen by makes a direct referral to our services.

To reassure you, all pts will not have access to information on the My app system prior to to 8th May (Go live date)

In order to gain a greater understanding of your circumstances and journey could you possibly reach out to me so I have an opportunity to look into this further for you.

If you feel your condition has deteriorated please seek further advice, support and guidance from your Gp
