"Care in A&E"

About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Emergency department

(as a service user),

Arrived in A&E at the end of February this year with my little girl. She became unwell at home very fast. I arrived in A&E and seen the triage nurse within 20mins. Within 90 minutes we had seen a junior Doctor and then a Consultant, her treatment was started immediately then, referral to paediatrics made and they came within 30mins. Everything in A&E was exceptional. All the staff were friendly, everything was explained clearly and so so efficient. The senior doctor we seen was called Conor and we thank him for our daughter’s speedy recovery. He acted so quickly and moved us round to resus, ensured all tests were ordered and completed.

My short time in the A&E waiting room I observed all visitors being seen quickly.

Dear violetry33

Thank you for taking the time to leave this wonderful story. My name is Amy and I am the Manager of the Emergency Department. I had the pleasure of sharing your feedback with all the nursing, administrative and medical staff including Connor who was really pleased to hear you felt your daughter was seen and treated in a timely manner and that everything was explained well. A lot of times we have to respond and act quickly and we are glad to hear this was the case with your daughter. I hope she is recovery well now

Kind regards

Amy
