"Under-resourced department"

About: Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary / Orthotics

(as a service user),

I have been receiving treatment from the Orthotics Department for a number of years. In recent years there has been a shortage of specialists and the treatment has been from part time staff and, increasingly, short term staff borrowed from other regions.

There has been little continuity and considerable delays in treatment. In the last 6 months or so, the clinic is covered by a one and a half day part timer. The waiting list is long and growing.

Good Afternoon Beckham,

I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience and the issues you have faced regarding delays in treatment and lack of continuity of care within the Orthotic Department.

Should you wish to discuss your experience further, I would welcome you to contact the Patient Experience Team directly, either by email at: dg.patientservices@nhs.scot, or by telephone on 01387 272733.

Once again, thank you for sharing your concerns with us. As an organisation we find any feedback valuable so that we can look to improve services for our patients.

Kind regards,

Stevie
