"Recent Stroke victim, fobbed-off without…"

About: Birmingham Midland Eye Centre (Bmec)

My 78 year-old mother-in-law was discharged from Good Hope approximately 6 weeks ago post a stroke and series of TEI's. She had an episode yesterday that resulted in a blue-light to this hospital. She waited 9 hours to be seen and was sent home without any investigation undertaken. Today, she had to go to her GP, who immediately referred back to Good Hope who have now taken blood tests and a CT Scan. I believe the junior doctor who saw her at 8.30pm who fobbed her-off did so because it was late and she was old. This is poor practice (in the opinion of the medical professionals we have engaged with today). I am reporting this to improve training for junior (over-worked?) staff and address poor practice. Why did the Ambulance crew take her to this hospital? Why were no tests undertaken? Rhetorical questions to which we expect no real answer...
