I felt the suffering from Long Covid and Post Viral Fatigue had taken control of my life. I had become very bitter and depressed at the situation. Although I wasn’t “suicidal “ I was having very dark thoughts and could see no light at the end of the tunnel unless it was the train coming towards me.
I was very sceptical of accepting help from Long Covid Service and I would previously have ridiculed a man my age who required this help.
I was taken on a step by step journey by my Key Worker Lilian who patiently guided me through the process of finding the best possible path to improve my quality of life and address my unrealistic expectations.
I can say with certainty that I owe this service everything. I am prone to exaggeration however I feel the best analogy I can give is this service and Lillian in particular have given me the opportunity to have a life I would not have in the same way quadruple bypass patients feel after successfully rehab.
I have been able to accept my disability and look to the future thanks only to this service. Every single aspect of my life has been improved by the service provided and I know without doubt I would be in very very serious physical and mental distress had the service not been available. I have had to be able to live a completely different lifestyle and this would have been impossible without the support care and understanding provided by the Long Covid Service.
