About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Monklands / Acute Medical Receiving Unit University Hospital Monklands / Ambulatory Care University Hospital Monklands / Medical Assessment Unit

(as the patient),

I took ill suddenly at home on Friday 2nd May.

I was eventually taken by Ambulance to Monklands hospital. The ambulance staff were lovely & treated me with dignity & respect throughout ( I was terrified). I had a short wait in ambulance but was quickly through to be assessed.

A&E staff worked quickly & efficiently and I was moved through to medical assessment. Again the staff were kind, compassionate & efficient. AMRU Staff followed on & I was kept up to date with everything that was happening.

Portering staff & domestic staff throughout the hospital were all lovely & happy to chat & help when they could.

Ward 21 staff were amazing & you could see how they cared for each individual with empathy, care & compassion. Staff nurse Joyce & CSW Sandra looked after the room I was in yesterday. They provided lots of laughs & giggles and managed to keep everyone’s spirits up. Ward 21 can be a hard , heavy ward.

I work for the NHS and at one of the scariest times of my life I felt safe in their care.

I wanted to write in as we never hear about the good people & work that is going on in Monklands Hospital ( I worked here for many years always knew it was great! ) being on the other side let me see this first hand.

Dear guidegg66,

Thank you for sharing your experience of University Hospital Monklands.

I am sorry to hear that you took unwell at home. I can imagine that this would be such a worrying time for you and I am so pleased to hear that every staff member who cared for you treated you with compassion and respect. This must have been very reassuring for you.

I will ensure that your kind words are passed on to the whole team who I am sure will get a real boost in hearing your feedback.

I hope you are recovering well.

Best Wishes,

Jenni

Hi guidegg66,

Like my colleague Jenni from NHS Lanarkshire, I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to write in and share your experience and for your kind comments about our staff at the Scottish Ambulance Service. It is always really appreciated by our staff when patients or their families write in to tell us how they are doing and to thank our staff for the care they provided.

Although it was obviously a very scary experience for you, it is lovely to read that you were so well cared for.

Take care and all the very best,

Mark
