"Time critical prescription delivery to hospital pharmacy"

About: Wycombe Hospital / Urology

(as a service user),

After being advised that the Urology department at High Wycombe would be sending a prescription to Stoke Mandeville Hospital, I contacted the pharmacy on the same day to find out when it would be available to be collected assuming that it would be sent electronically.

I was astonished to find out from the pharmacy that prescription requests were still a paper based system and it would take a minimum of 48 hours to be received. Every day that passes increases the prospect that my cancer becomes incurable. Such a simple solution of sending prescriptions between hospitals surely must be something that is both clinically worthwhile and cost effective.
