"My experience of childbirth"

About: Maternity care / Delivery Suite Maternity care / Ward E Royal Jubilee Maternity services / Maternity care

(as a service user),

I recently gave birth to my first baby, after which I had a major post partum haemorrhage; the support and care shown by everyone was nothing short of phenomenal.

During my stay I found myself under the care of so many amazing staff members; Midwives Lucy in Maternity Assessment; Karen, Jeanette, Jennifer, Cliodhna and Pamela in Delivery Suite, as well as Courtney, Gemma and Debra in Ward E.

A massive shout out to Sarah and the sister on duty that night Michelle; two absolute superstars that showed complete professionalism throughout, thank you for being so motivating during the hardest part of labour whilst making me feel so cared for, especially when things deteriorated.

A big thank you to anaesthetists Richard and Matthew for performing my epidural, doctors Mark and Lauren from paeds for their kindness and reassurance when checking over baby both that night and before we went home; obstetric registrars Sharon & Ellen who were on duty that night (and another whose name I unfortunately cannot remember but who sat so patiently with me and debriefed me through my labour before I went home) for your immediate care and attention when required during labour.

The kindness shown by the Maternity Support Workers and domestic staff was never unnoticed and so appreciated.

Thankfully our daughter is thriving and I am recovering well; my husband and I cannot thank the staff enough for helping bring her into the world safely and looking after us all.

Dear CA26LSP,

Thank you so much for leaving such lovely positive feedback regarding your care whilst in RJMS. We appreciate all feedback and please be assured this will be shared with all staff who attended to you during your stay. Experiencing a postpartum haemorrhage, following the birth of your daughter, must have been an extremely frightening time for you and your family and I am so pleased that you felt both supported and cared for.

I am glad to hear your daughter is thriving and you are recovering well and once again many thanks for your kind words.

Kind regards

Roisin Cosgrove

Intrapartum Lead Midwife
