"Mental health care journey"

About: Aveley Medical Centre Inclusion Thurrock (Talking Therapies)

(as the patient),

This is about my mental health, my slide into deep depression and suicidal thoughts. It’s like the frog in a pan of water. Slowly turning the heat up it stays there till it dies. Throw it into a pan of water it jumps straight out!

I had allowed pain, lack of sleep, and the final straw, withdrawal from antidepressants to overwhelm me for over a year. I had become deeply depressed to the point of feeling I no longer could live like this. My doctor referred me to the mental health team. I was seen relatively quickly but sooner is the way to go in the future. I was luckily caught in time.

I guess my message is don’t wait the moment you get thoughts of ending it seek help don’t wait or it may be to late.

Can’t express enough how grateful I am to my doctor and and therapist they have saved my life. I am now leading a depression and pain free life not perfect but that’s life. Please get help don’t put it off don’t wait.

Dear Gethelp,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback of your experience with Inclusion Thurrock Talking Therapies.

Your incredibly honest and powerful message and words offer not only a deeply moving account of your journey, but also a reminder about the importance of seeking help early.

The metaphor you shared about the frog in the pan is a striking and relatable illustration of how depression can gradually take hold, often unnoticed until it becomes overwhelming. It takes immense courage to speak so openly about such a difficult time, and even more to reach out for support when everything feels hopeless.

We’re truly thankful you found the care you needed with us at Inclusion Thurrock, and it’s heartening to hear you’re now in a much better place. Your gratitude toward your doctor and therapist is a testament to the life-saving power of timely, compassionate support.

Thank you for using your experience to encourage others—your words could make all the difference for someone who is struggling. I hope that your positive experience will encourage others to share their story with us at Inclusion Thurrock Talking Therapies.

All the best,

Taffy
