"Outstanding care"

About: Royal Liverpool University Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as a service user),

I was being treated for a scorpion bite after a holiday abroad , and I was admitted to the Tropical Disease Department at the Royal Liverpool Hospital. Professor French treated me.

Whilst I was an inpatient I developed a severe flare up of my ulcerative colitis and I was then admitted for care and treatment by the gastroenterology department under the expert care of Professors Collins and Probert, Dr Subrimanian, and their colleagues. However, I always see the aforementioned Professors.

It is most reassuring to  be able to have such expert opinion, treatment, care and support from extremely warm , kind, caring, knowledgeable individuals. I can’t fault any of them , they are all equally amazing and have more of a friendship relationship as opposed to being my medical doctors. They are always so professional in every single aspect of what they do , and they really do go above and beyond to help you with everything.

I had a rather traumatic experience with my previous doctor who was a gastroenterologist. They were not suited to me in any shape or form . I desperately wanted a different doctor to really help me understand my condition, and to get me as stable as possible. However, it was such a delightful experience to have new doctors at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. The difference was absolutely phenomenal as I was now receiving expert medical treatment and care for the first time since my diagnosis of ulcerative colitis and proctitis . It was like a new broom , as the change in my overall condition was extremely noticeable.

The consultants or professors at the royal Liverpool Hospital have all been truly amazing, and I cannot thank them enough for their truly thoughtful work and dedication to medicine that they’ve provided to me in my entire course of time since diagnosis with this very nasty disease.

I truly do believe that if you want the very best care in the United Kingdom, even globally, I would highly recommend that if you need expert care, and you are able to see one of the team at the Royal University Hospital in Liverpool, then you’ll soon realise that you’ve found the very best healthcare and professional doctors and nurse are at this hospital and its award winning , medical journal writing medical & surgical specialist doctors, and specialist professors at the Royal Liverpool Hospital.
