"Small acts of kindness can make a profound difference"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Gynaecology (Ward 49)

(as a service user),

Gynae Ward 49

Unfortunately I found out many weeks ago that the baby I was carrying had sadly passed away.  I had a few options and decided to go for an MVA.

I cannot explain to you what ward 49 is like. They are the angels of the hospital. Fiona the band 7, Donna - HCA and Dr D’Sa were with me during the procedure and were so kind, so understanding and so empathetic!

These words are little in comparison to what they did for me.

Nursing, I was once told is a vocation, and I myself didn’t believe it however these ladies were made to be in the caring profession.

I was worried, emotional and uncertain however these girls just made me feel that everything was acceptable and it was ok.

They kept me distracted and even made me laugh.

These girls deserve the world and a massive raise!!

“Even small acts of kindness can make a profound difference to somebody else”.

Everyone was unbelievable but an extra special mention to Fiona who helped me on several ways, helping me get the correct appointment to get me back on track and look forward to a holiday I was originally going to cancel - I will never forget it, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Dear AGP8,

Firstly, I am so sorry for your loss. The below website offers good support:

www.miscarriageassociation.org.uk

Secondly, I really do appreciate you spending the time offering feedback during such a stressful and upsetting time.

I am really pleased to hear Fiona, Donna and Dr D'Sa were kind, understanding and empathetic when you attended for your procedure. It is common to be worried, emotional and uncertain and I am delighted the team made you feel that everything was acceptable and it was ok. Being distracted at this time can take away from the uncertainty of the procedure.

I am glad Fiona helped you reconsider cancelling your holiday - sometimes getting away from normality helps with the healing process. “Even small acts of kindness can make a profound difference to somebody else” this is very true.

I will be sure to share this with the team and wish you a gentle recovery.

Kind regards,

Nikki
