I recently attended Minor Injuries in Stirling with an injury. I called 111 after my fall and was referred up to Minor Injuries within a couple of hours, which I thought was fantastic.
As I arrived the reception waiting area was bright and clean and looked very busy. I went to reception to book in, as I waited in line the person in front of me was booking in, they didn't have an appointment and was clearly annoyed and weren't very nice to the receptionist, they were informed it's best to call 111 for a pre-booked appointment as it saves waiting in a busy waiting room but they did also inform the patient they could book in without an appointment but it means they would have to wait until there is a gap between appointments.
To me I think this is very fair as appointments should take priority if they have went through the correct process to attend the department The receptionist was very friendly and polite and should not be putting up with verbal abuse.
I then got to the receptionist who booked me in and directed me to the waiting area along the corridor.
I was seen by a lovely nurse practitioner, x rayed, treated and discharged very quickly. I just want to thank all the staff for an amazing stress free experience. The appointment service works great, everyone should be using this instead of just attending to avoid long waits, the poor receptionists must get the brunt of it and it's not fair.
