About: NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) University Hospital Hairmyres / General Surgery (Ward 5) University Hospital Hairmyres / Surgical Receiving Unit (Ward 4) University Hospital Hairmyres / Theatres, Recovery & Anaesthetics

(as the patient),

I felt ill at the end of April 2025. I called 111 & got appointment at out of hours Douglas St Hamilton 17.20. A very professional man Dr Atto diagnosed me and was sure it was appendicitis.

I was sent to Hairmyres East Kilbride & admitted through Triage to surgical team where it was diagnosed as appendicitis. I was kept in and prepared for surgery.

I would like to thank absolutely everyone involved in the process of my diagnosis, operation & recovery care. It was exceptional and I really appreciate the care I was shown by all staff in Ward 4.

I note there are a few services tagged to your story, I reply on behalf of NHS 24. I was sorry to learn you had cause to contact 111 and were later diagnosed with appendicitis. This must have been a very worrying time.

It is fantastic to hear that you have received such exceptional care throughout your patient journey and I do hope you are now on the mend after your surgery.
