At the end of April 2025, I had a very rapid, unplanned delivery at home and was subsequently transferred, with my baby, to Dr Gray's for postnatal care and observation.
I genuinely cannot praise the staff on Ward 3 enough, particularly Senior Midwife Hilary and Midwife Jo who were the main staff caring for us during our short admission. Everyone was so caring, everything was extremely well explained and happened in a timely manner. I also must mention the auxillary and cleaning staff who, too, were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Despite being busy and short staffed, nothing was a problem.
I really hope that plans to reinstate full maternity services, at Dr Gray's, progress as planned and more women are able to experience the fantastic care, currently provided by midwifery staff.
My only complaint (and it has nothing to do with Ward 3) was a lack of gluten and dairy free food in the hospital. My husband had to drive home to bring suitable food in for me to have post delivery, as there was virtually nothing available on site. It would be great to see the hospital providing more options for people with dietary intolerances.
