"Help for my elderly dad"

About: Community Services / ANP (Advanced Nurse Practitioner) Service Urgent Care

(as a relative),

On return from holiday, I learned that my dad had fallen again. It took two family members and myself to lift him up to move my dad. He couldn't hold himself up. He didn't appear himself a bit confused and was not passing a lot of urine.

I phoned our doctor's practice and explained the huge concerns that I had.

Will and a colleague arrived very soon after to see my dad. They listened to everything I said and gave my dad a very thorough check over taking a lot of time and care. Will had already visited my dad and already had some information so the continuity in him returning was excellent. They were patient, kind and very supportive reassuring us about the care we had given. Will and his colleague organised an ambulance to take my dad to hospital for an x ray. They were able to pass on a whole lot of very valuable information to the hospital from the time spent examining my dad and talking with him.

My dad was taken in an ambulance and admitted to hospital and will be assessed for the help he will need at home. He has  small fractures in his foot, a urine and kidney infection and is very confused.

The advanced nurse practioners were extremely professional and Will and his colleague wanted me to phone and let them know what had happened and also gave me valuable help and advice.

I can't thank them enough for the wonderful job they did in assessing the health of my dad and getting him to hospital. They are an invaluable service.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this wonderful feedback. It is lovely to receive and has been shared with Will and the team of Advanced Nurse Practitioners.

We hope your dad is feeling better and recovering well.

Best wishes,
