"Support for my husband by various organisations"

About: District Nursing / Dundee Enhanced Care at Home Team (DECAHT) Occupational Therapy Speech & Language Therapy

(as a relative),

My husband became seriously ill when we were in Portugal due to a lack of sodium and potassium.

He was admitted to Faro hospital where he was administered sodium and potassium intravenously. He then developed pneumonia and was given antibiotics for that and a UTI. After eight days he was free from infections, but very weak and unable to walk. We managed to get him home with help from my son and the airport staff and air hostesses.

Since coming home we have had the support, empathy and help of a variety of organisations. The DECAHT team were particularly empathetic and supportive in the first few days we were home and helped me source essential items. We have also had support and empathy from the enablement team, OT , and speech and language.

Sincere apologies for the delay in my response - due to a period of absence.

Thank you for taking the time to pass on your feedback about the care provided by the DECAHT team. I will pass this on to the team and they will be delighted to hear that you found them to be empathetic and supportive.

With best wishes for your husband's ongoing recovery,

Allison
