"Excellent care"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Accident & Emergency Crosshouse Hospital / Gynaecology District Nursing Teams / District Nursing Team - Kilmarnock

(as the patient),

I was admitted to the gynecology ward at Crosshouse Hospital at the end of April due to abdominal pain, nausea and fever from A@E.

The care I received from start to finish was excellent from all members of staff from doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, student nurses, porters, and house keeping. Everyone made me feel at ease and helped me to relax in particular staff nurses Carolyn, Carol, Lesley, Hollie and Ainsley and nursing assistants Jennifer, Susan, Stephaine and Ashliegh and student nurse Lauren. All of those involved were great at understanding the pain I was in, while providing and treating me with care and dignity. Nothing was of trouble to them and they were great at calming me down and helping me get though a very difficult few days. Everyone had great communication skills ans were great at keeping me informed.

Everyone made sure that I was well enough to go home before being discharged and that I had all the support and services that I needed to allow a smooth discharge.

When I was upset and crying the nurses were very caring and compassionate and were able to provide me with reassurance and they also provided me with the support that I needed. The nurses were great at explaining everything and were so patient with me, when teaching me how to do self catheterisation.

The district nursese even contacted me within 2 hours of discharge, to make sure that I was aware that I could contact them at any time with any issues or concerns that I had with regards to catheterisation and that they were aware of my discharge and they also provided me with their contact details and out of hours district nurses contact details due to up coming public holiday, which was excellent.

I even left my phone charger behide and the ward contacted me to inform that I had left my charger.

Dear May2025

Thank you for posting about your recent experience with the District Nursing Service.

It is important to us that patients are aware of how to contact the Service out of hours, particularly during Public Holiday weekends and I am glad that you have had a positive experience.

I will pass on your comments to the District Nursing team who will appreciate you taking the time to get in touch.

I hope you are continuing to recover

Many thanks

Beth
