"Finding the right professional for me"

About: Child and Adolescent Mental Services / CAMHS Newry & Mourne

(as a service user),

I was referred to camhs in July 2024 after experiencing panic attacks, I had my first session in September and it just didn’t feel right my councillor just didn’t suit me and honestly my anxiety was getting worse in the mean time ( more panic attacks and just overall heightened anxiety).

Then in January my mum rang and asked for me to be moved and I got referred to a cbt training councillor and although I was sceptical at the start it was honestly the best thing to happen for me it has helped me so much.

I still experience anxiety and it’s still something I struggle with the difference I can see from last year to now is amazing and I can’t thank my councillor enough.

Hi charahk43

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. I am so glad to hear that you have been allocated a practitioner who you feel is better suited to you. We understand how important it is for young people to talk to someone that they feel comfortable with. I'm delighted you decided to remain with CAMHS even though you were skeptical in the beginning.

It is great to hear that you have made progress and that you can see a difference as time has passed.

I will share your feedback & gratitude with the CBT trainee and with team.

Best wishes
