A fall led to pain that did not go away after a week. I got an appointment the same day.
On arrival the Receptionist ran through my details and showed me to a waiting area. The nurse carried out a full examination of the hand and wrist. and explained what and why she suspected had happened. She then talked me through what the next step would be - ie that X-Rays would be needed.
I was passed through to Radiology, who took four X-Rays and they made sure I knew what the procedure was and also what would be involved.
After that I was referred back to the examining nurse. The injury was explained, a splint was fitted and follow up details supplied. I was guided on what steps were involved after I left the Minor Injuries Unit and given details of a helpline number should any other queries present themselves over the next couple of weeks. I was also supplied with another department's direct number at Ninewells hospital who would arrange an appointment if the healing process didn’t go as planned over the fortnight specified for a simple recovery.
The Staff were friendly, professional and caring. The system in place worked like clockwork and it only took about 30-40 minutes in total and that included a few laughs along the way. Well done to you all. This is the Hallmark of quality medical care. Thanks.
