"Stay in hospital for a new hip"

About: Trauma & orthopaedics / Orthopaedic National Treatment Centre

(as the patient),

From initial contact with the surgeons secretary, the contact with the surgeon, admission to hospital on Christmas Eve by the nurse practitioner, anaesthetist and ALL the team on the ward from beginning to end the care I received was first rate.

Nothing was too much trouble, including when there was nothing on the menu for me to eat they went and found something, or feeling post op blues providing a shoulder to cry on. Bonus was definitely receiving an unexpected gift from Santa Claus himself!  No one wants to be in hospital over Christmas, but this team picked up a gear, and went the extra mile - or were they just being themselves and doing their job……..I think so.

These people are in the right job.

Hello,

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback. We appreciate all patient feedback received, as this allows our service to reflect on our care delivered and identify areas for improvement and growth. Therefore, it is rewarding to know that you felt the care provided was first rate.

Attending for surgery, especially during the festive period can be daunting. Therefore, we aim to put all patients at the centre of all decisions made, to help reduce any potential stress factors. Therefore, it is great to know that you felt that staff provided person centre care and comforted you during a time of distress. I am pleased to hear that Santa Claus found the National Treatment Centre ward, so you received your present on Christmas Day!

I will share your kind words with the National Treatment Centre team; they will be so pleased to know that they made a positive impact during your stay.

I hope you are recovering well and that you had a good Christmas and New Year.

Best wishes and take care,

Briony Klos
