"I don't get call backs like I'm promised"

About: Community Mental Health / Carrick ICMHT

(as a relative),

I have been trying to use this service on behalf of my mum.

I understand the service is stretched and busy but I work shift work and have been spending my days off on the phone trying to get ahold of people who are meant to help but do not, I don’t get call backs like I’m promised and just keep getting pushed from GP to mental heath team on a loop and no one will listen to me.

I feel it need to be made easier to gain contact with these teams and actually stick to any promises being made!

I am exhausted from all of it! How much do I have to kick and scream before anyone will listen to me, I still haven’t had my call back even though I ring multiple times a day to remind them!

We are very sorry to hear that you have had a bad experience with one of our services. We contacted the manager and her response is below. Please contact her as she will help.

I apologise for the frustrations and lack of communication you have experienced trying to contact the Carrick Community Mental Health Team regarding your Mother.

I appreciate that as the teams working hours is a Monday to Friday 9 - 5 service it can be more challenging to find a time to contact us when you are working shifts. The telephone lines are open to the Dementia and Older Persons Mental Health Team as well as the CMHT and the telephone keeps ringing rather than give an engaged tone when the receptionist are taking calls.

I suggest e mailing the teams generic e mail address

cpn-tr.admincarrick@nhs.net

requesting it is forwarded to myself, Melanie Roberts, Carrick CMHT Team Manager and I will then navigate to the correct team and keyworker to follow up.

We work closely with our Primary Care Nurses in the GP practice and perhaps I can discuss with them any suggestions on pathways to improve our communication between the services.
