(as a service user),

I have had a really good experience. I saw Cerys and they were brilliant.

They adapted to what I needed and what I was able to manage in multiple ways: Finding exercises that didn’t set off PTSD, reassurance and help with anxiety around practising and being anxious hearing my own voice, letting me have longer between appointments so I could take breaks and also delaying appointments if I knew I was going to be having a difficult time and wouldn't be able to practice for a while, and checking if I needed accommodations for my dyslexia. They listened to how I wanted my voice to change and what bothered me about my voice without making assumptions, and adapted with no problem when what I wanted changed a bit some of the way through.

For me it was important to me to understand the range of what was possible for my voice, I felt like I needed to know what my voice could be like to be able to choose what I liked the most. I feel like I really understand what I’m trying to do and how pitch and resonance both really change how your voice sounds, and I really appreciate having a framework to understand what I’m doing and how to make changes.

I will still need to keep working on things, particularly in more contexts, but I have the tools and understanding and exercises to be able to do that now, and I’m confident I will get there with more practice. I’m already much happier with my voice, and I can see how much I have learned when I listen back to recordings I took at the beginning. And I’m also now sure what I’m aiming for in a way that I wouldn’t have been able to identify at the beginning.

I am so grateful for their help. They could not have done better.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience.

I am sure Cerys will be delighted to hear the positive impact for you.
