"My mum who receives care at home services."

About: Hamilton Locality Support Service / Care at Home

(as a relative),

My 84 year old mum's mobility over the last year was ever declining to the point that I, her daughter, had a discussion with her around receiving a Care at Home service for meal preparation & personal care.   She was hesitant at first about carers coming into her home but over time she came round to it.

Fast forward 6 months. She now receives a daily visit from South Lanarkshire Council's Care at Home Service.  She is more happier and content and is loving the carers who come in to prepare her dinner every night and who give her a bath twice a week.

I want to, on behalf of my mum and I, to personally thank her carers, Marie and Christine (Hamilton locality, Care at Home Services, South Lanarkshire University Health & Social Care Partnership) for making a significant difference to my mum's quality of life and for being excellent carers.    My mum likes a wee blether and during their time carrying out care tasks for my mum, her carers are always there to listen and have a wee natter to.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your mums experience of receiving support from our Care at Home Service for the first time at the wonderful age of 84! I'm delighted to hear that her first experience of receiving formal supports has been so positive and has made such a difference to her quality of life and her health and wellbeing.

I will make sure that your lovely feedback is shared with Marie and Christine and the wider care at home team. We are always grateful for all feedback we receive, but lovely to hear that the simplest of things, like having a 'blether' with your mum means so much to her.

Thank you again

kind regards

Sharron Mundy
