"Working against difficult times"

About: Victoria Hospital / Gynaecology

(as a service user),

Have had intermittent bleeding and told to call the ward when it started again. Was given an appointment for 3pm that day. Waited over 2 hours from arrival to be seen. Consultant was understanding but the procedure still hurt. A polyp was diagnosed and a sample taken which was very painful and resulted in bleeding which wouldn't stop and I had to be admitted. This was at 5pm and I wasn't transferred to a bed until 9pm by which time I was stiff, cold and sore. I realise this is not the nurses fault as they are working against difficult times. When I got to my room I had asked for a gown but it wasn't provided and I slept in my top . Some of my medication couldn't be sourced either. The staff themselves were all brilliant, doing the best they can with the facilities to hand.

Dear Erski, thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that the care you received fell below the standard we strive to deliver. I would like to look into the circumstances further. This would allow us to identify learning and improvement. To allow me to do this, could you contact myself on claire.massey@nhs.scot, providing me with your name and date of birth. Kind regards, Claire Massey (Clinical Nurse Manager for Gynaecology)
