About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Gynaecology FAU (Ward 43)

(as a service user),

I had breast surgery in Ward 43 in Altnagelvin Hospital in Sept 2024, with follow up in April 2025 to remove my cancer. Both times I found the skills of the surgeons to be excellent and the care of the nursing staff to be attentive and caring . 

I was regularly asked if I needed anything by all staff, including the auxiliary and cleaning teams. It was a very busy ward with high turnover each day and staffing was kept working hard to maintain these high standards.

Quite often equipment had to be borrowed from my room as needed elsewhere. 

I was happy with my treatment and couldn’t ask for better .

Audc Thank you for taking the time in your recovery period to provide feedback on the care you received in Ward 43 by both medical and nursing staff.

It is always great for staff to receive feedback and how they have made a positive impact on a pts journey at difficult times and I will be sure to pass on your thanks to the team members.

Within the ward setting there may be times that equipment will need to be used be used collectively. Whilst this is not ideal it is effective and efficient use of resources to ensure standards of care are maintained.

As service lead I will use your feedback as an opportunity to review the current equipment available on Ward 43 to identify if there are any deficits.
