"This was one of the best experiences I’ve had"

About: Vale of Leven General Hospital / Endoscopy

(as the patient),

I’ve recently moved here from Cornwall, so everything—especially the hospital experience—is still quite new to me. I did notice some differences between here and my previous hospital. This one feels a little more dated, and some of the equipment seemed older—in fact, a few pieces had fizzled out in my previous hospital and been replaced. I also noticed there was no option for dignity shorts during my procedure, which I did appreciate having back in Cornwall, and sharing a mixed ward was something I wasn’t quite used to.

That said, despite those small differences, my overall experience here was far better than I expected. The nurses were absolutely wonderful—so kind, friendly, and incredibly patient. They didn’t rush off or leave me feeling nervous like I’ve experienced in the past; instead, they took the time to chat and reassure me.

During the colonoscopy, the staff were on hand for everything I needed and made me feel completely at ease. I have to go through these procedures annually, and honestly, this was one of the best experiences I’ve had—even if I did have to share a ward!

I also really appreciated the lovely touch at the end—a proper cup of tea, toast, and some chocolate biscuits. Back home, I’m usually sent on my way fairly quickly, so that extra bit of care made a real difference.

Dear Roxiii

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

It’s wonderful to hear that your overall experience exceeded expectations. We’re especially pleased that our nursing staff made such a positive impact, ensuring you felt supported and reassured throughout your procedure. We are delighted that their kindness and patience made such a difference.

We acknowledge the differences you noticed, including the age of some equipment, the availability of dignity shorts, and the ward setup.

Your comments about the colonoscopy team and the thoughtful post-procedure refreshments mean a lot to us. We understand how important these procedures are, and knowing that our team helped make it one of the best experiences you’ve had is truly rewarding.

Best wishes

Nicole
