I was recently admitted to Ward A21 Stroke Ward in Forth Valley Hospital and was advised I had to have a M.R.I. scan. I had the M.R.I. a few days later and was discharged later that same day. I was then given details of N.H.S. Forth Valley Stroke Transition and Rehabilitation Service which is there to help me recover from a Stroke which has affected my sight and memory.
The after care they are providing is excellent. I had a phone call from Catherine, an Occupational Therapist with a date and time she would visit. She arrived and gave me information about the service offered and she walked round the house with me checking for hazards She has been back on 2 other days, the first to watch me prepare a hot drink for my husband and she left letter puzzles for me to pick out matching letters.
The 3rd time she came out walking with me then asked me prepare vegetables for cooking a meal. I showed her the completed puzzles I had done and as she is pleased with my progress told me that she would not need to come back again but left her contact No. in case I needed any further help.
I also received a phone call from Amy, the Stroke Liaison Nurse with more advice and to ensure I had all the necessary contact details and also that I had received a guide to share with my husband and family about this excellent service for stroke patients on their discharge from hospital. This service is to be commended.
"Excellent service for patients"
