"I felt truly professionally cared for"

About: Western Isles Hospital / General Surgery

(as a service user),

I was recently admitted to the day surgery unit for a planned procedure. From the moment I arrived I felt cared for.

On arrival, I was looking on the board to see where to go when a porter approached me to ask where I was going. He personally escorted me to the day surgery unit and wished me well before handing me over to the medical staff.

The nurses were amazing. They were friendly, chatty and reassuring. Everything was explained, from sedation to the procedure.

My consultant was great and went over everything in great detail, explaining what he was planning to do and why.

The NHS staff in the Western Isles are fantastic and I felt truly professionally cared for from the moment I arrived to the moment I left. We are blessed to have such an amazing facility on the island.

Dear Alison 273

Thankyou for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience of care during your recent time in Day Surgery.

I am glad that you felt you were well looked after from the point that you came into the hospital with support from our portering staff right through to your discussions with your consultant and the aftercare from our nursing team.

I have passed on your kind comments to the teams involved as I know they really appreciate hearing feedback from our patients.

I wish you well with your ongoing recovery following your procedure.

Best wishes

Denise Symington
