"I received outstanding treatment"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital / Accident and emergency Musgrove Park Hospital / Trauma & Orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Ì collapsed onto my garage floor on a Monday afternoon and immediately knew I had broken something serious.  An ambulance arrived after 20 minutes with a 2nd one arriving 10 minutes later as more than 2 people were needed to move me.

Arriving at A&E I was taken straight to X-ray and then to a bed in SDU.  I was operated on the following afternoon, the decision being to repair my broken right hip bone.  From recovery I went to Gould Ward, then to Hestercombe Ward and then back to Gould Ward.  Just over 3 weeks in hospital being attended to by excellent teams of nursing staff together with physios, OT members, doctors and porters.

The only downside was being transferred to another Ward at 2300hrs the final evening, a sleepless night due to a cold room and being transferred to the Discharge Lounge at 0800hrs the next morning for a 1030hrs departure home.  My transport arrived after 1200hrs.

I know that many people experience great problems with the NHS but this instance I received outstanding treatment with a small hiccough at the end.  Thank you Musgrove Park Hospital.

Thank you for taking the time to write to us, I work in A&E and will be sure to pass this on to the team. Thank you for reporting the outstanding care which as you say there was a small hiccup. This feedback is important to us and we would like to look into the Gould to Hestercombe back to Gould move. If you can email us your name and DOB we can look at this further. I hope you are recovering well
