Requested repeat prescription of my medication 23/4/25. 24/4/25 had call from Dr to ask what quantity of Prednisolone I was taking and did I have to take this with the Methotrexate. Confirmed I did and assumed all good. 29/4/25 went to pharmacy to pick up tablets and Methotrexate missing. Viewed NHS app and Dr had declined it ? Called into the docs and was advised it was declined due to ordering too soon as supplied with 24 tablets . Why was this not questioned on the call or why did someone not think of letting me know . I explained that the consultant from Southmead hospital had upped the dosage from 6 to 8 tablets per week back in March, and a letter was sent to them, so this only lasts me 3 weeks . Receptionist found letter from Southmead on system that had obviously not been read by the team and she advised that very behind on reading letters! I was told to go home and do an Econsult. Found this frustrating as didn’t want an appointment . Came home and rang the docs and was told they would put it as an urgent referral as I have no tablets left and need to take them 1/5/2025 plus going away 2/5/2025. Was told they would let me know. Heard nothing so today 30/4/25, called docs again at 11am and told it would be ready for Thursday 1st May. Explained that I take them first thing every Thursday so needed the tablets today to be able to do that as working tomorrow and holiday Friday. Again the receptionist put forward an urgent request . Heard nothing so rang again at 3pm and told would be tomorrow. Again explained not acceptable and eventually had a call back to say that it had been signed off by the Dr and that I could collect from Pharmacy.
I must say that the receptionist today was very helpful and understanding and managed to sort this out but this situation put me under a lot of stress whilst trying to work and having to make calls to chase it.
I feel that I should not have been put in this situation in the first place as the letter clearly states the increase in medication and had obviously not been read. What is the point of hospital letters being sent when these are not checked !
"Can be good but this experience very poor"
