"My treatment here has been absolutely brilliant"

About: Cancer Services / Radiotherapy

(as the patient),

My treatment here has been absolutely brilliant from start to finish - from the preparation/planning scan everybody has been so helpful and so nice and sympathetic of your treatment. I have no issues at all. Bob, Jacqui and Karen are excellent and keep the whole thing running smoothly.

My appointments schedule has been a wee bit mixed but my employers have been good re my time off work and I have not had any problems.

Car parking is diabolical - I give myself an hour extra time to come here so that I can get a parking space.

One of the best things about coming here to Radiotherapy is meeting other people in the same position, which I think is almost part of the therapy. In a strange way I will miss this. But we have formed a Prostrate Boys what’s app group so that we can keep in touch.

The Maggi Centre is excellent too - go down there after treatment for a coffee and chat. There is an ex-radiotherapy nurse there who is really helpful and can answer any questions folk might have.

In my opinion car parking is the only thing that could be improved. However, if you cannot find a space there is a telephone number you can phone to let Reception know that you are in the area and will be a little late.

Dear Brodie11, thank you for taking the time to feedback your experience of our Radiotherapy Department. My name is Bob, one of the Support Workers who you kindly mention. I will pass on your kind words to the others, thank you.

It is pleasing to hear that your treatment has been ‘absolutely brilliant from start to finish’.

Generally we try to plan appointments around the same time each day in order that patients can arrange their lives and travel accordingly. Due to the number of patients attending the department it is sometimes not possible for that to be the case. I do hope that this was not too inconvenient for you. I do also understand that acquaintances can be built with other patients which can be very supportive. Likewise, Maggie’s is indeed, also a very supportive place to enjoy a relaxing cuppa. We are very grateful to them for allowing our patients to park there whilst attending appointments.

Our Head of Therapeutic Radiography, Damian Parr continues to take the parking issue to management meetings.

On behalf of everyone here, I hope you benefit from your treatments and wish you well for the future.

Kind regards... Bob
