"A very sore heel"

About: Physiotherapy - South Ayrshire

(as a service user),

I tripped going down stairs, thought nothing more about it but a couple of days later started to limp rather badly on my left side.  After two weeks of limping pain the doctor's receptionist said they had a cancellation with the on-site physiotherapist, Adam.

Adam took his time asking me questions and probing my general health and fitness. We then went through a number of balance exercises and he showed how my toes curled when I tried to balance on my left side.

We went on to some tension exercises, showing a weakness in my left side.  Basically my muscles from the top of my thigh to my foot were not working correctly, putting pressure on my heel, making my Achilles tendon not work in a true linear motion, causing problems with my foot.

We then went trough exercises to strengthen muscles in my legs especially at the top of the thigh.  I have started the exercises and am full of confidence this will help my issue.

Adam was very methodical and professional, taking his time, making sure I understood what he was saying and reassuring if I stuck to the exercise plan I would soon see the benefits.  He stressed correct footwear was also very important.

Leaving the surgery I felt happier than I have in the last two weeks and determined to work very hard to get back to full health.  Thank you, Adam.

Dear Boswell

Thank you so much for taking the time to share feedback on your healthcare experience.

I am sorry to read that you had a fall resulting in a painful limp, but it is heartening to hear that that Adam, your Physiotherapist has been able to listen to you, assess your symptoms and provide you with some suitable exercises to hopefully improve this for you. This is a lovely example of the person centred care that we strive to deliver.

Our staff really appreciate receiving feedback from their patients and it will be my pleasure to ensure your lovely comments are shared with Adam.

Please accept my best wishes and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience.

Kind Regards

Pamela
