"Waiting times"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

When I arrived after being sent by my GP, I waited for over an hour, then I got bloods taken an ECG and blood pressure.

I was then assessed without any doctor attending myself, to then be told I now have a new waiting period of between 8 and 12 hours, this seems not to include the 2 hours that it takes actually get blood results. So this total is potentially 16 hours.

So how can I be triaged without being seen and then put in queues whilst other people who superficial triage are allowed before myself?

Dear robert563,

Thank you for sharing your experience of University Hospital Wishaw, Emergency Department.

I am sorry to hear that you were unwell and had to attend hospital. I can appreciate how frustrating the wait time would be for you given you had already been sent there by the GP and had waited an hour to have bloods and an ECG done. Our services are in very high demand at present and the staff are working hard to ensure patients are triaged and seen as quickly as possible.

Should you wish to discuss any aspects of your care further, please could I ask you to contact patient affairs on the below address who can investigate your concerns and provide a personal response.

patientaffairs@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk

I hope that you are feeling better.

Best Wishes,

Jenni
