Initially my problem was an inability to eat very much without being in pain and vomiting. As a result, I suffered weight and energy loss and generally felt miserable. Being in pain and sick was worrying, painful and limiting apart from looking awful.
My initial contact was via my GP surgery, then I was referred to Raigmore Hospital In Inverness - initially in September 2024 as a standard referral, then in early December 2024 as an urgent referral.
Having been informed this could be months away, I opted for a private consultation. This resulted in a CT scan which showed that I have a complex oesophageal hernia, and also an enlarged Aorta.
I requested my information was forwarded to Raigmore Hospital, where I was then fairly quickly seen by Cardiology Department.
However, I am still on the waiting list for Gastrointestinal consultation but have been advised the wait could be two years!
I feel this is a sad reflection of the situation in our local NHS hospital.
"I am still on the waiting list"
