After being referred to ENT again due to continuous issues with congestion and loss of smell and taste I finally received my appointment to see Dr Snelling.
I had nasal polyps removed a few years ago which seemed to help temporarily but I still had problems with congestion every now and then and couldn't understand the reasons for this. My last consultant seemed to just do my surgery and then discharge me quickly afterwards, not really explaining steps to help in the future.
I was so impressed with my appointment with Dr Snelling - he really took the time to understand the situation and put the pieces together and put me on a treatment plan first in order to hopefully avoid surgery down the line. He took the time to explain all about some of the allergies that may be causing the problems and gave me some top tips on dealing with these.
Although my nasal polyps have grown back, we will be trying to treat these first with medication and lifestyle change (starting with minimising household dust mites!)
During the whole consultation, I didn't feel rushed at all and felt leaving like all of my questions were answered and that I had a clear understanding of what I need to do over the next few months to help.
I am also happy to report that after weeks of no taste and smell it is finally starting to come back after this initial treatment so I am so pleased I got to see Dr Snelling when I did!
I know the waiting lists are so long with the NHS at the moment but after I left my appointment I was left feeling with such gratitude for our healthcare system, especially when they have people like Dr Snelling working there. I would be grateful if you can pass on my thanks to him and his team!
