My husband and I were getting coffee while at the Victoria Hospital and decided to sit outside as it was a lovely afternoon.

We had our 3 month old grand-daughter with us. Unfortunately, we had to move seats at least twice and cut our time short due to the amount of people smoking outside - despite there being numerous notices regarding the no-smoking policy of NHS Fife.

Is there a better way of implementing this policy?

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am sorry to hear that your visit to Victoria Hospital was disrupted by people smoking in areas clearly marked as smoke-free. We understand how frustrating and disappointing this must have been, especially while caring for your young grand-daughter and trying to enjoy a peaceful moment outdoors.

Your feedback highlights an important concern. NHS Fife is committed to maintaining a smoke-free environment to protect the health and wellbeing of all patients, visitors, and staff. While signage is in place, we recognise that enforcement can be challenging and that more effective measures may be needed.

We’ve shared your comments with the relevant teams to explore ways we can better uphold the no-smoking policy — whether through increased visibility of signage or other supportive interventions.
