"So grateful for their help"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Xrays and Scans Vale of Leven General Hospital / Minor Injuries Unit

(as a service user),

Late April, I was involved in a RTA. Rear ended by a new driver at speed. I called my gp to be checked over however they suggested A+E. I knew nothing was life threatening so I went to minor injuries at Vale of Leven Hospital to be checked over as I was in severe pain, concussed with whiplash. Reception did everything they could to put me off to dissuade me. (Around 14:00 hrs) saying you sure you want to wait its 3 hours...they were abrupt with very little empathy or kindness. The staff in minor injuries ( ANP's) were great and sent me to A and E at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

The waiting room was crazy. I was triaged within 30 minutes and after 7 hours or so was seen by a really great team of doctors ( Lorna). They were amazing. As I have spinal issues that were pre existing ( ankylosing spondylitis, old fractures, spinal frame), they were thorough in their investigations. I was diagnosed with whiplash and concussion. Incidently they found an issue with my heart and immediately gave me a prescription. I made it clear I did everything I felt I could to avoid going to A+E as it was not life threatening and was told to go.

I can honestly say, that the medical staff were incredible and in an extremely challenging environment they made sure I was assessed and medically ok to go home with great advice and with a prescription. I can't thank them enough, this includes the xray staff too. I was in a lot of pain, concussed and in shock and so grateful for their help. Please thank them on my behalf.

Dear GW98274,

I hope this finds you well, thank you so much for your lovely care opinion, that sounded an extremely panful and worrying time for you. Thank you for your kind words about the staff who looked after you during your visit to our Emergency department, our staff really do appreciate getting such positive feedback, they work extremely hard in often difficult circumstances, and to know that their care and attention is appreciated by the patients they are looking after, means so much - thank you. I will pass on your lovely comments to them, I hope you are getting back to normal after your accident and feeling much better.

with very kind regards,

Karen

Dear GW98274,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience following your recent attendance at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after your road traffic accident.

We’re very sorry to hear about the trauma you experienced and the pain you were in. It’s heartening, however, to know that amidst such a difficult situation, the care you received from the Radiology team stood out positively.

Your kind words about the X-ray staff are very much appreciated and will be shared directly with the team. Our radiographers and radiology colleagues work hard to deliver safe, compassionate care, especially in high-pressure environments and feedback like yours makes a meaningful difference. We're pleased they could support your diagnosis and overall treatment journey during what was clearly a distressing time.

We wish you the very best in your ongoing recovery.

Warm regards,

Michael
