My partner and I attended a consultation with Dr Meachery and his team at his clinic in the Western General Edinburgh.
My partner has a terminal progressive lung disease with coexisting medical complications. Dr Meachery explored the option of lung transplant with us, he was kind, compassionate and extremely considerate during the appointment. Unfortunately, transplant is not an option for my partner.
While this wasn’t the news we had hoped for (although we weren’t surprised), we were very grateful for the teams time and consideration. I’m sure it would have been far easier for them to send a letter than travelling so far to have the conversation which made us feel valued and respected.
It is so important to have healthcare professionals that can be objective yet emotionally available but also advocate for the best outcome for everyone in their care.
Thank you again, your kindness at a difficult time will always be remembered.
"Amazing compassionate consultation"
