"My Son's Care"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Accident & Emergency Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Clinical Decision Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

My infant son has just come home from an overnight stay in the CDU following an ED visit. My son had croup which had developed and become very serious very quickly.

Upon arrival at the ED we were immediately taken to resus and Dr Patrick and the team were incredible. They responded without delay to treat my son. They dealt with the issue with urgency and professionalism. I felt petrified but reassured he was in the best hands.

We went in to the ED where he received further treatment from the amazing staff who were attentive and responsive.

An overnight stay in the CDU was required, and the doctors and nurses took incredible care in treating my son. I felt the whole time that we were in the best possible place and that the staff had the skills and knowledge required to take the best care of my son.

We were made comfortable in our room and well looked after in all regards including food for myself which was greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much to all the staff in these departments I am truly grateful although not in a rush to see you again!

Dear Jenniferb

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your story with us on Care Opinion. We’re truly heartened to hear that your son received such excellent care during what must have been a frightening time for your family.

It’s wonderful to know that from the moment you arrived in the Emergency Department, you felt reassured by the professionalism, speed, and compassion shown by Dr Patrick and the entire team. We are also pleased that your experience in the Clinical Decision Unit was equally positive and that both you and your son felt well supported throughout his stay.

Your kind words mean a great deal to our staff, who work tirelessly to provide safe and compassionate care to all our patients. Feedback like yours not only boosts morale but also reinforces our commitment to maintaining the highest standards.

We hope your son continues to recover well and wish your family all the very best. And while we’re glad you felt in good hands, we join you in hoping you won’t need to visit us again any time soon.

Kind regards

Kevin
