"We as patients felt overwhelmed for the staff"

About: Liverpool Womens Hospital / Gynaecology

(as a service user),

Frustrated, angry and sad for the nursing team, one of whom did not stop all day on the gynaecology ward. 

Ward was busy, few staff. 

Seemed more interested in audits and recording observations some of which they couldn’t keep up with because they were so busy, and late medication. 

Some staff working very hard to get things done and the constant ringing of the telephone, not the best environment to recover. Couldn’t wait to leave despite not feeling too good. 

There were also times I witnessed a member of staff just walking around appearing to be doing nothing. We as patients felt overwhelmed for the staff whilst one person appeared not to be doing anything. 

In my opinion, poor management support for the staff.
