"Brilliant experience "

I was diagnosed with cataracts several years ago but was told not to worry about them until they started affecting my vision. When they did, I contacted my optician and she asked me multiple questions in order to complete a referral questionnaire. This in turn was uploaded into the NHS database straightaway.

Within 24 hrs I was contacted by SpaMedica within Deansgate on the phone. A pre op appointment was arranged for the following week so that they could undertake several tests to evaluate my eyes. On arrival I was checked in and went through 4 assessments / tests over the next 2 hours. Everyone was very pleasant and extremely professional so I was impressed.

Prior to leaving, one of the 2 receptionists booked me in for my first cataract operation within 10 days? There was an earlier date but I had a prior engagement. As my eyes were still dilated from the procedure she helped me book a taxi and a colleague accompanied me to the pick up as my sight was not quite clear.

A friend drove me to the clinic for the operation and stayed with me in order to drive me home afterwards.

I was initially apprehensive about the procedure but was reassured at each stage pre op, by the friendly nursing staff. I won‘t describe the process as it is very clearly explained within the handy booklet, supplied to me by SpaMedica/ NHS.

The surgeon and his nurses did a sterling job and I did not feel a thing due to the local anaesthetic. I was encouraged to ask any questions while the surgeon explained what would happen next.

Overall, I can thoroughly recommend the operation should you require it. Currently I am in my second week of recovery, using supplied eye drops 4 times a day. I cannot get over how clear my eyesight is. after the cataracts have been removed. Colours are no longer“warm and soft“ but“bright and sharper“.

Hopefully, all being well within the next month or two, my other eye will be corrected. Thanks to all the staff at Deansgate Spa/Medica.
