"Care provider issues"

About: Social Work Adult Services (Assessment and Care Planning) / Central Locality (Falkirk Town Centre, Camelon, Bainsford, and Hallglen)

(as a relative),

I phoned Falkirk Social Work Department recently to speak with a social worker regarding my concerns, still awaiting a reply.

I care for my brother who lives with me and has Dementia . He has 2 hours support once a week.

The issues are as follows:

1. No continuity of care.....a different carer most weeks, most don't stay locally, mostly Fife.

2. Time of visit has changed on a few occasions. I was not notified. I phoned their office to let them know that I arrange appointments or meet with friends during this time.

3. On one day the carer phoned me to let me know she is ill and has a chest infection but would wear a mask and sit far away from him. I cancelled as I feel it's not appropriate to be providing care when you are ill and cannot interact closely with clients.

This is causing me unnecessary stress.

I am sorry to hear about your experiences, another responder should reach out soon! I am a responder who identifies people who may be an unpaid Carer, from your story it sounds like you might be an carer for your brother. If so, you would be entitled to carer support from the Falkirk and Clackmannanshire Carers Centre. Please don't hesitate to contact us on 01324 611510 or email us on centre@centralcarers.co.uk. You could also find out more information at our website, centralcarers.org"
